Design-minded engineer building for impact.

Scroll

I build software from multiple angles — from interfaces and APIs to data pipelines, machine learning models, and the intelligent systems behind them.

01 — Where my curiosity points

My curiosity is particularly drawn toward data science and machine learning, while my software engineering foundation lets me think about how those systems actually become usable, reliable products.

02 — What I'm looking for

An internship or Werkstudent role where I can keep building real things, work alongside people who care about craft, and keep learning faster than I would alone.

Finora

A cross-platform mobile trading dashboard and portfolio simulator — Firebase Auth and Cloud Firestore for secure sync, the Finnhub API for live market data, with a modular architecture handling everything from state management to financial data visualization.

02 / Systems · C · Control Hackathon

Aerospace — Rocket Ascent Vector Control

A cascaded PID control system for 3-axis rocket attitude stabilization — pitch, yaw and roll, with sensor filtering, torque-based actuation and real-time data logging validated against CSV analysis.

Built on a forked repository during a hackathon — presented transparently as team-based work, not solo-original work.

03 / Data · Visualization Chart.js

Bioinformatics Dashboard

An interactive gene expression and genetic variant explorer — VCF-style file interaction, filtering, data tables and Chart.js visualizations built to make dense biological data legible.

Currently runs on mocked gene-expression and variant data, not a connected production biological dataset.

04 / Python · Game Logic Team project

Chess

A full chess implementation built with a team — turn-based logic, legal move validation and board-state management. My contribution focused on game logic development.

Where I'm headed

Data Science & Machine Learning

Data science and machine learning aren't just technologies I list — they're the area I keep coming back to. I like working with data: cleaning it, finding patterns in it, visualizing it until it actually says something.

I'm equally interested in the modeling side — experimenting with models, evaluating them, and trying to understand why they behave the way they do, rather than treating them as black boxes. From there, the natural extension is intelligent agents and connecting models to real software systems.

I have additional AI and agentic work currently in progress that isn't public yet — it'll show up here as case studies once it's ready.

The person behind it

A little more context

I'm Zubair — a Software Engineer & Data Scientist.

I got into software the way a lot of people do — by wanting to build one specific thing, and then getting curious about everything underneath it. That curiosity hasn't really settled down since.

What keeps me interested is the range. I enjoy moving between software engineering and data — from designing an interface and building the systems behind it, to cleaning a dataset, exploring patterns, or training a model and figuring out why it behaves the way it does.

I'm especially drawn to data science and machine learning because they combine the parts of engineering I enjoy most: problem-solving, experimentation, mathematics, data, and building systems that can learn from information.

At the same time, I care about the software around those systems. A model is only part of the picture — I want to understand how data moves through an application, how APIs and databases connect, how systems scale, and how technical ideas become products people can actually use.

Outside of code, I spend a lot of time behind a camera and in an editing timeline, and a fair amount of it on a football pitch. Photography and video editing have taught me a lot about composition, pacing, contrast and restraint — instincts that naturally find their way into how I design and build software.
