I'm Zubair — a Software Engineer & Data Scientist.
I got into software the way a lot of people do — by wanting to build one specific thing, and then getting curious about everything underneath it. That curiosity hasn't really settled down since.
What keeps me interested is the range. I enjoy moving between software engineering and data — from designing an interface and building the systems behind it, to cleaning a dataset, exploring patterns, or training a model and figuring out why it behaves the way it does.
I'm especially drawn to data science and machine learning because they combine the parts of engineering I enjoy most: problem-solving, experimentation, mathematics, data, and building systems that can learn from information.
At the same time, I care about the software around those systems. A model is only part of the picture — I want to understand how data moves through an application, how APIs and databases connect, how systems scale, and how technical ideas become products people can actually use.
Outside of code, I spend a lot of time behind a camera and in an editing timeline, and a fair amount of it on a football pitch. Photography and video editing have taught me a lot about composition, pacing, contrast and restraint — instincts that naturally find their way into how I design and build software.
